Britcar Round 5 Donington

Edward and Marmaduke’s Round 5 Britcar showing was a tale of two parts…...!

A great day testing on Thursday, with a combination of dry and wet conditions, Eddy and Marma loved the balance and pace of the G50 at Donington, typically reporting that “the car was AWESOME!” loving the flowing nature of the track, stating the car “was planted” in both the dry and wet, with both drivers in the groove…. they were loving it!!!

Then race day…starting with an early practice session, qualifying and then their first race at 12.05…. the program even had a very welcome reference to Edward and Marmaduke……

“leading the whole Sprint Championship is the Tockwith Ginetta G50, with the impressive teenage partnership of Edward Moore and Marmaduke Hall, who give years away to their competition in class”

Eddy qualified an impressive 13th overall, 1st in Class, and well into the Class 3 territory with a 1.11.449 best, averaging 99.71mph around the Donington circuit…..all was boding very well for the forthcoming races….

Race one started, and as usual, Eddy had a great start…. soon into 9th place after a few laps if not corners! But then……over the radio was the call that the water temp was rising…. dangerously so…., back into the pits he came, with the TMS crew immediately looking to identify and rectify the issue… the end to the story is that try as they might, it was not something which was resolvable trackside, ultimately resulting in DNF’s for both races...

Eddy and Marma were inevitably disappointed, but maturely sanguine with the position, it wasn’t a fault that had provided the slightest forewarning prior to the race, and the positives to take away was the pace of both drivers and car, they will look forward to the next round at Oulton with every hope and expectation of having a successful and rewarding outing!
